Major scientific achievements
The scientific research carried out at the Department of Forest Management has the nature of both basic and applied research in the area of forest management. Some of the most important achievements include:
- Elaboration and verification of methods allowing current assessment of stand growing timber volume, which was implemented in forest management;
- Determination of the effect of the size and number of experimental plots on the estimation accuracy of valuation features in pine stands;
- Elaboration and preparation of conversion coefficients tables "K" allowing the determination of the stand current timber volume increment on the basis of their mean increment;
- Elaboration of methodology allowing the development of long-term plans of stand reconstruction;
- Elaboration of stand type classification for purposes of stand planning and reconstruction and its verification in stands of fresh, mixed coniferous sites situated in the Mazury-Podlasie Natural Region;
- Assessment of the appropriate growth and yield of mixed stands of the Baltic Natural-Forest Region;
- Elaboration of a comprehensive system of determination of current and potential forest production potentials using proposed synthetic measurements of forest production assessment as well as indices of the degree of utilisation of production capacity;
- Determination of the probability matrix of stand survivability in the zone of forest hazards and damages;
- Elaboration of long-term prognosis of changes in forest yielding capacity and productivity as exemplified by some selected site working cycles situated in the Koszalin Natural-Forest Region;
- Determination of forest possible and optimal production potentials of small private owners for voivodeships where the proportion of such forest is the highest;
- Verification of the statistical accuracy of forest inventory methods on the basis of pine stands;
- Determination of the optimal species composition and structure of production forest as exemplified by a fresh, mixed coniferous forest in the Zielonka Experimental Forest Division.
- Elaboration of general assumptions for a large-area inventory of the state of health and sanitary conditions of cultivations and thickets;
- Verification of the application of the current increment to assess forest yielding capacity and control of forest productivity;
- Elaboration of the modified concept of the theory of normal forest envisaging a new element of forest evaluation, the so-called model filling of space and forest reconstruction yield;
- Elaboration of the principle of establishment of a reconstruction system and optimisation of forest reconstruction yield;
- Development of the first, original, analogue map of forest functions for RDLP in Poznan;
- Elaboration of a forest numerical map for the Ladzim Forest range in the Miedzyzdroje Forest Division,
