Scientific research
The Department of Forest Management has been carrying our long-term investigations within the Forestry Faculty project entitled: "Investigations on the biological, technical and economical reconstruction of a forest system" and which includes the following specific problems:
- Development of forest ecosystems in changing unfavourable conditions of a natural environment;
- Stand reconstruction;
- Efficiency intensification of forest economy;
- Improvement of inventory methods and planning principles in forest management.
The above-mentioned general directions of research can be expressed more specifically in the following research projects:
Productivity and functioning of forest ecosystems in conditions of chemical contamination of atmospheric air;
Basic principles of forest management in conditions of large municipal-industrial agglomerations as exemplified by Poznan;
Regulation of timber production in threatened forest ecosystems;
Investigations on forest sustainability and reconstruction;
Management of forest yielding capacity and productivity on the basis of prognostication of changes of elements influencing forest production;
Investigation on the determination of the stand economical type;
Functions of forests in central Wielkopolska;
Intensity of degradation processes of forest coniferous sites in conditions of the Polish Plain;
Protection and management of important forest types in the area of Pomerania;
Regulation of productive and protective forest functions;
Evaluation of forest functions;
Utilisation and development of spatial information systems.
